ことし44回目を迎えるＪＡＡ奨学金は、ＮＹ州、ＮＪ州、ＣＴ州に在住で今秋、米国内の大学に進学する日本人、日系人の高校３年生を対象に、奨学生を募集している。締め切りは５月12日。
１９７１年に始まった同奨学金は、これまで４００人以上の学生に授与されており、受賞者はＮＹのコミュニティーだけでなく世界中で活躍している。なおＪＡＡの会長であるスーザン大沼氏は、第３回の受賞者。
ことしは、第２回西宮伸一大使奨学金から５０００ドル、ビンガム・マッカチェン・ムラセ賞から６０００ドル、米国三井物産基金から５０００ドルが３人へ贈られる。また、デルタ航空奨学金、オリエントコーポレーション奨学金、トヨタノースアメリカ奨学金、ＴＶジャパン奨学金、ＡＮＡ日本旅行奨学金など、総額約５万ドルが12人に授与される。
奨学金授与晩餐会は、６月３日午後６時から市内ハーバードクラブにて、キーノート・スピーカーに千葉ロッテマリーンズやNYメッツの元監督であるボビーバレンタイン氏を迎え、開催。

A double-spaced 500 word maximum essay on either of the following topics.
・2014, Japan is Back! As a person of Japanese descent, how do you hope to contribute to our global society?
Do you see yourself in public service in the future; i.e. running for office,working in diplomacy, etc. Please be specific.
・What new “dream” projects or future technology would you like to see the United States and Japan work together on.
・Tokyo Olympics 2020—what type of exciting world do you foresee for the United States and Japan 2020 and beyond.
